PPAP (Production Part Approval Process)

The Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) is a valuable tool for building trust with part suppliers and their manufacturing processes. PPAP defines the approval process for new, revised parts or parts manufactured with new, significantly revised manufacturing methods.

The PPAP process consists of 18 elements that may be required to approve production-level parts. Not all items are required for each submission. There are five generally accepted PPAP application levels. The PPAP guide contains detailed information, guidelines, and sample documentation useful for completing process requirements. The resulting PPAP presentation provides evidence that the supplier is meeting the customer’s requirements and that the process is able to consistently reproduce quality parts.
