The 8D methodology uses a structured eight-step approach to problem solving. The goal is to confront the problem and discover weaknesses in the management systems that allowed the problem to arise. The output of the 8D process is an 8D report.
The steps in the 8D Report are also called “disciplines” so they are called the 8D Report and their steps are as follows.
D: Team Building
D: Problem Description
D: Temporary Restriction Actions
D: Root Cause Analysis
D: Corrective Actions
D: Verification of Corrective Actions
D: Preventive Actions
D: Team and individual recognition
